Designed to enhance genealogical expertise, explore cutting-edge developments in the field, and provide valuable insights into historical research, this year’s programming offers a mix of professional development and hands-on learning.
From staying compliant with APG filing requirements to diving deep into investigative genetic genealogy, here’s what NJ-APG members can look forward to in the year ahead:
January 8 – APG Filing Requirements for Continuing Education
Speaker: Jenifer Kahn Bakkala, APG National Board
Start the year off right by ensuring compliance with APG’s continuing education requirements. Jenifer Kahn Bakkala will walk members through the importance of these filings, how to complete them correctly, and what activities qualify as continuing education—some of which may surprise you! This session is essential for maintaining professional development and APG standing.
March 12 – Investigative Genetic Genealogy, Part I
Speaker: Cairenn Binder, Center for Investigative Genetic Genealogy at Ramapo College
In the first of a two-part series, Cairenn Binder will introduce members to the emerging field of Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG), which has become a powerful forensic tool in criminal investigations. She will also discuss Ramapo College’s groundbreaking IGG center and certification program.
May 14 – Investigative Genetic Genealogy, Part II
