Act Now: Deadline Today for Reporting Continuing Education Hours to APG

As we approach the end of January, APG wants to remind our APG NJ Chapter members that today is the deadline for reporting your continuing education hours to APG.

Your dedication to advancing your knowledge and skills in genealogy is not only commendable but also essential for the growth and improvement of our profession.

In 2015, the APG Board of Directors unanimously voted to make Continuing Education a requirement of APG membership.

This decision underscores our belief that all genealogists, regardless of their experience level, benefit from continual learning. Staying current and expanding our knowledge base is crucial in our ever-evolving field.

As a member of APG, you are required to complete and report a minimum of twelve (12) hours of Continuing Education per membership year.

These hours can be accrued through various means, including college courses, conferences, discussion groups, institutes, lectures, online courses, self-directed study, or webinars.

Reporting your continuing education hours is a straightforward process. Simply fill out the form available on the Apgen.org website.

This step is crucial not only for meeting membership requirements but also for ensuring your profile remains active in APG’s online professional directory. Please note that this requirement is waived for members of less than one year.

Exemptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis for extenuating circumstances such as disability, health issues, or long-term family difficulties.

If you believe you qualify for an exemption, please reach out to APG, and they will assist you.
