Repository tours resumed this month in Essex County, when NJ-APG members visited the Montclair History Center on October 4th. Director Jane Eliasof provided a tour of the center’s Crane House and Historic YWCA Museum, along with an insightful presentation on recent efforts by the center to preserve and expand understanding of local Montclair history.

Our group finished the visit with a look at the Alfred P. Terhune Library, located in the neighboring Clark House. Archivist Erin Benz gave an overview of the center’s archival collections, including directories, maps, photographs and numerous vertical files and books on local events and families.

Many thanks to the Montclair History Center for a great kickoff to our chapter’s year!

— Liz Lynch, Repository Tours Coordinator
